January 2002 Update

Hi all,

The beginning of a new year is always a time of reflection.  We reflect on the past year and we look forward to the new year.

In the past year we have seen many changes in the modeling and website scene.  In modeling Tamiya treated us to a great 32nd scale Zero, Hasegawa continued to give 48th scale guys more good stuff with more new Zeros and Oscars.  For the 72nd scale guys there were several new twin engine aircraft.  A new Peggy, a Sally from MPM and several different Dinah releases.  2001 was indeed a good year.

On the web side of things.  We have seen the continual growth of the web for Japanese enthusiasts.  The Pearl Harbor Associates brought together an excellent group of websites to focus on keeping the history and memory of Pearl Harbor alive and well.  Hyperscale and Modeling Madness continue to grow and prosper giving modelers the things that they are looking for, simple good information, great photos and a place to hang out.

J-aircraft has also done well this year.  A special thanks to our sponsors for this year, Roll Models, Model Expo, Osprey Publishing, Kitlink, Lansdale Research Associates, and Paul O'Neil.  Thank you for your support!!

2002 will bring more changes to the website.  I'm currently working on software to automate the book and kit review processes.  This will allow an editor to do some very basic things to release a book or kit review to the public.  It will also make posting them easier for the users.  We will also be working on an automation of the gallery section so the folks can start posting their models once again.  I'm hoping to have all three of these pieces in place as well as the ability to upload photos automatically by the end of February of 2002.

We also have another large project that I'm hoping to have in place by summer.  This will be one that everyone can help build and add too.  It will be something of an interactive research page.  I'm hoping it will turn out as cool as the plans for it look.

Thanks as always for your support!
