Does anyone have info on the use of the Ki-60 (Six - Zero, not the Hein) in the early days in Malaya, possibly with the 47th? And if so, was one confirmed as lost? I'm trying to backtrack from a report that one of the RAAF pilots shot down an in-line Japanese fighter on December 23, 1941 near Kuala Lumpur. Many thanks, and aplogies if this is well-covered ground.

Let me guess, Jim . . .

A pilot shot down a fighter with an inline engine because he had been briefed by his intelligence officer that the Japanese were probably building and flying German Me 109 aircraft . . . Seems a lot of pilots saw 109s and 110s early in the war. But it was simply because they were told to expect them.
