Ki-43 I 1st Sentai, Burma, late 1942
The 1st Sentai moved into Burma from bases in Indo-China
in the Autumn of 1942.
This immaculately finished Oscar of the 3rd Chutai is depicted in a bright green
and tea scheme, described in contemporary RAF combat reports, which appears to
have been quite common to JAAF units in the theatre and was also seen on early
Model IIšs. Camouflaged at the front, possibly using captured paint, the
original anti-glare panel has been painted over. Undersurfaces are natural
metal except for fabric areas which are painted grey-green.
